Lil Wayne Placed In Solitary Confinement

Posted by yoMcLovin on October 5, 2010

Lil Wayne is one hard-headed joker.  Weezy’s been placed in the hole for violating the rules once again:

*With about a month left to go before his prison bid ends, Lil Wayne got caught again with a pair of headphones and a charger for an MP3 player and was moved to solitary confinement as punishment.  Another inmate was reportedly hiding the MP3 player.

TMZ is reporting that the rapper, who’s been locked up on Rikers Island since March on a gun-possession charge, will now have less interaction with inmates and spend up to 23 hours a day in an isolation cell.

His out-of-cell time is limited to religious services and one hour of recreational time, and his phone privileges also have been reduced to just one personal phone call a week.

The new report mirrors a similar incident in May, when Lil Wayne was busted for having a charger, headphones and a watch that doubled as an MP3 player in his jail cell.

No word on whether this recent setback will affect his release date, which is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 4.

If he is freed on that day, rumor had it that the rapper would hold a concert Nov. 5 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, where he last performed before he turned himself in to authorities. But the head of his label, Cash Money Records’ Bryan “Baby” Williams, said earlier Monday that while plans for Wayne’s post-prison celebration are still being worked out, they’ll most likely take place in Miami, not New York.

Rikers Island: Another Corrections Officer accused of showing favoritism to Lil Wayne

Posted by yoMcLovin on September 6, 2010

(AllHipHop News) A guard on Rikers Island could face disciplinary action for allegedly giving superstar rapper Lil Wayne preferential treatment in the prison.

An investigation has been launched over the alleged actions of Captain Latanya Brown, who is accused of spending extra time with Lil Wayne.

Additionally, the New York Post reports that Captain Brown allegedly allowed the rapper to stay in his cell, while other inmates were ordered out of their bunks and into the recreation yard.

The prison has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to showing favoritism towards any inmate.

In April, just one month after the rapper started his year-long sentence for attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a guard at the complex was fired for allegedly spying on Lil Wayne.

Amelia Negron was fired for glimpsing at Lil Wayne, although she denied the charges, claiming her union boss forced her to make a confession.

This is not the first time a rapper has caused controversy on Rikers Island.

In June of 2009, it was revealed that Foxy Brown allegedly received preferential treatment during her 9-month stay on Rikers Island in 2006.

The rapper held a photo shoot and allegedly received unlimited phone/TV use, makeup, luxury clothing and outside meals.

In October of 2009, Correction Chief Peter Curcio and a Rabbi named Leib Glanz resigned over the scandal, after the Brown reports, in addition to allegations that Rabbi Glanz arranged a lavish bar mitzvah for an inmates son.

Manny Pacquiao wnats Floyd MayWeather to step up and fight! Pacquiao says “I Don’t Need Him, He Needs Me. Compare My Achievements To His”

Posted by yoMcLovin on September 2, 2010

NEW YORK — Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach wanted the exact same thing that boxing fans everywhere wanted: Floyd Mayweather Jr.

They got Antonio Margarito instead.

Pacquiao and Roach said Wednesday that they agreed to every demand put forward by Mayweather for what could have been the richest fight in boxing history. But the former pound-for-pound king chose not to accept the fight, leaving Pacquiao to look elsewhere for a fall opponent.

He’ll face Margarito, the former welterweight champ, on Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium.

“I don’t need him, he needs me,” Pacquiao said of Mayweather, during a stop Wednesday in New York to promote his upcoming fight. “Compare my achievements in boxing to his achievements.

They’ve both achieved plenty, which is why fans have been clamoring for the high-profile matchup for the better part of two years — and why so many are upset it hasn’t happened.

The fight was nearly made in January, then fell apart when Pacquiao refused Olympic-style drug testing in the weeks leading up to the fight. But the newly minted congressman from the Philippines said he’s even agreed to the strict blood testing in an effort to make the fight, but he hasn’t heard from Mayweather’s side why an agreement couldn’t be reached.

“We agree with, you know, his demands,” Pacquiao said, referring specifically to the blood testing. “I wanted to know if that’s his real reason [for not fighting].”

The entire negotiation process came to resemble an unsavory soap opera, with HBO Sports boss Ross Greenburg publicly stating that he had worked tirelessly as an intermediary between the two sides. Pacquiao’s promoter Top Rank has a poor relationship with Mayweather, who rose to become a world champion under its banner, so it’s not unreasonable to assume there was an intermediary.

Shortly after a deadline imposed by Top Rank for Mayweather to accept the fight had passed, his adviser Leonard Ellerbe issued a bizarre statement in which he said no negotiations ever took place — contradicting Greenburg and the folks at Top Rank.

Roach said that Top Rank had been calling him for advice on what gloves to wear, what ring size to use, what weight to fight at — standard details during a negotiation process.

When people are calling me and asking me, ‘Is this OK? Is this OK? Is this OK?’ There’s something going on,” Roach said. “I know there must have been negotiations going on.

Whatever he wanted to do, we were accepting it. Whatever he wanted. Manny said, ‘I want to fight. I’ll agree to anything.’ I thought the fight was a shoo-in.

Roach was recently in Ukraine to watch one of his other fighters, Vyacheslav Senchenko, retain a welterweight title. But all he heard from fans were questions about Pacquiao-Mayweather — not about Senchenko, and certainly not about Margarito.

“You know, I really truly think boxing needs that fight to happen,” Roach said. “All people want to know, ‘When’s he fighting Mayweather?’ Wherever I go, that’s what I’m asked.”
